As a Church we depend on the generosity of our congregation and those who attend
the Church for our income – we receive no funding from central or local Government.
The Bible speaks of tithing – whereby we give 10% of our income to God’s work –
5% to our Church and 5% to other charitable works. Everything we give should be as a result of our response to the generosity of God – not what we have left over after we have paid for everything else that we want. By thinking about our giving as a % of our income we have the freedom to adjust our payment as our income increases or decreases.
It costs approx. £900.00 a week to fund the costs of the Church here in Downham
and there is so much more we could do if we had the resources.
There are a number of ways that you can support the work at St. Barnabas:

If you are in receipt of a regular weekly/monthly wage or salary or pension, please do consider setting up a Standing Order so a regular payment can be made to the Church.
I am a tax payer – does that make a difference?
Yes!
If you are a tax payer, you can join the Gift Aid Scheme and the Government will pay to the Church the income tax that you have paid on the money that you give to the Church. The Government currently refunds 25p for every £1 that you give at no extra cost to you.
In 2021 we received £5,014.43 for the donations made during that year.
If you are able to Gift Aid your donation you will need to join the Planned Giving Scheme so that we can claim back the correct amount of money based on the donations that you have made. If you would like to find out more about joining the Planned Giving Scheme or completing a Gift Aid declaration, please speak to Joan Cooke or Gloria Cox-Augustine.
Attached below are downloadable copies of the Gift Aid Declaration, Standing Order Mandate, Standing Order Amendment and Legacy Policy documents.
Thank you.
